Is it possible to make the status bar semi transparent ?

Sorry, no. The colour of the status bar is hard coded in the software.

Any time a question like this comes up, it should also be emailed to TomTom as a suggestion. The TomTom software has so much potential if the developers would actually listen to us a bit more.
