TomTom Model(s)
Carminat TomTom
I have bought a Clio with the in built Carminat Tom Tom. I have tried to update the SD card. I thought I had but then it wouldn't read the map, and therefore not let me use the display at all or any options. I have then tried to fix this, and formatted the SD card as Tom Tom suggested I do. Unfortunately this won't now be recognised to download a map to and I can't use the back up primarily because there isn't a backup. And I can't get any sense out of that bloody chatbot either. Can someone help me with some advice please, or maybe a backup file to begin with?

Thanks for replying, I did connect to TomTom home but it didn't ask me to back up and I thought it knew what it was doing. Silly me. I will see if TomTom can actually help me as well though.

You will be lucky if Tomtom gives you a map to download to your SD.

Can you look on Tomtom Home if you have a folder named "InternalMemory"?

To find the location of this folder:
- Open TTHome
- Click on Tools -> Home Preferences -> Folders
The folder "InternalMemory" is located at the address indicated on the line: "Backup"

That's a good idea I will try that. Otherwise would a secondhand replacement card from eBay not work? I only ask because I'd begrudge paying tomtom for being spectacularly unhelpful

No, a used replacement SD card purchased on eBay will not work.
SD cards are encoded to work on only one GPS.

I have fixed this. Got through to someone very helpful on livechat who activated the map for me. I have then managed to initialise a different SD card using some useful instructions on the site. My TomTom SD card just wasn't connecting at all which wasn't helping either and updated it in no time. Thanks for your help though I appreciate it.
