Screen Fades After 30 Seconds

After about 30 seconds, the screen on my TomTom One 3rd Edition fades to black. It didn't use to do this, and it is hooked to my cigarette lighter. It is programmed top "Never" Turn Off Map Display in the safety prefs.

It doesn't do this while in the menus.

What gives?

That's good news, as it eliminates the hardware as the culprit. All else can be resolved one way or another.

Any chance it's shifting to the night view? How do you have your brightness set for day/night?

ah HA! The Brightness pref.

I honestly don't remember changing any brightness prefs, but it said to always turn off the screen. I switched it to NEVER turn off the screen, and the problem was solved. I'm happy now,
