Route Planning Options Always take fastest route vs Ask me (Auto-reroute behavior)

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to better understand the Route Planning options in my TomTom device.

Right now I have it set to “Ask me so I can choose”, so when there’s traffic ahead the device shows me a faster route (the green line), and I need to manually confirm to switch.
That works fine, but it’s a bit of a hassle to tap and confirm all this while driving.

I’m trying to figure out:

If I switch to “Always take the fastest route”, will the device automatically take the green route without asking me? or does it ''thick-headedly'' always take the fastest ...even though there are a 100 trucks piled up upside down on the ''fastest way''

Is there any threshold setting (e.g. only reroute automatically if it saves more than 5 minutes)?

and What exactly does “Don’t ask me” do — does it just stick to the original route no matter what happens, even ..ha ha even though there are a 100 trucks piled up upside down on the ''way''

My goal is simple:
I’d like the system to automatically pick the faster route (the green one) when traffic builds up, so I don’t have to fiddle with the screen while driving.

Any experienced users who can explain exactly how these options behave in practice?

You have the option to just take the green faster route without touching anything and the device knows you have taken the alternative route.

which specific Route Planning option are you referring to (Always take the fastest / Ask me / Don’t ask me)?
In my case (Ask me), I see both green and blue routes cluttering the screen until I tap one.
Are you saying that if I do nothing, the green is auto-selected after some time?.....if so ..during that screen glut I may miss turns or whatever.

No the green is not automatically selected but if you take the green route it will carry on along that green route.

which setting will do that ? : --> Always take the fastest / Ask me / Don’t ask me

"Always take fastest route" seems pretty self explanatory to me. But you will still get Green option if a faster route comes up before a recalculation, so like I said just follow the Green route and it will catch up.
