For a few weeks, the route bar on Android Auto hasn't shown for me. I haven't changed my car/phone setup, and I have both Android Auto and the TomTom app updated to the latest version.

As a beta tester for the TomTom app, I posted feedback via the Play Store and received instructions to clear the cache and remove & add the app from Android Auto again. However, this didn't fix the issue.

Am I the only one having the issue?

I'm having the same issue for a couple of weeks as well. It started with Android Auto version 13.4. No more route bar showing and the blue navigation box in the upper left corner turned from blue to light grey and was nearly unreadable. Since AA 13.7 or 13.8 the latter at least changed to blue again but the route bar is still missing. I tried everything including emptying the cache and uninstalling/reinstalling TomTom. All in vain.
I finally downgraded to AA version 13.3.645684 and everything works fine with this one, including the route bar. You might want to try it also, pending an update from either AA or TomTom that fixes this annoying problem.

Thanks! Good to know I'm not alone in this. Hopefully, one of them will fix it. While the downgrade sounds like a workaround, I always try to avoid that, as occasionally AA forces you to update to the newest version.

I have the feeling that the look and feel (e.g., colors and font) have changed recently in AA. Maybe this caused the issue?

Indeed, Google introduced the Material You design to AA with version 13.4, so I also suspect this could have caused the display issue. Anyway, we can only wait and hope the developers will solve this issue soon as the route bar is an essential feature that I don't want to miss.

I'm in the same boat, I loved how clear this app was compared to others, I would navigate without sound, but now it's unbearable, I can't see the text and the route bar is gone! I've tried all the fixes suggested in reviews on play store.

I would downgrade but it's hardly a fix. Hopefully they resolve it quickly or I might have to cancel my subscription. It's due for renewal soon.

Is the app working properly on your phone? If so, this is an issue with Android Auto and not an issue with the app, why cancel your subscription?

I had same issue. Solved it by dropping out of AA Beta test. Then it works fine, I am using version 13.8

You made my day, mate! I just left the AA beta program as well and this also solved the problem with the missing route bar for me. I'm using the latest version 13.9 now. Thanks a lot!

It looks like that the non-beta versions have no Material You design. Hopefully it will not cause any issues when it gets introduced for non-beta users.

I also have problems with AA 13.7:
* The Route Bar has disappeared
* The box the shows my speed and the speed limit of the road has disappeared
* The colours have changed which makes the next turn box almost unreadable

I'm confused about how to fix this by upgrading to 13.9 though as the Play Store tells me 13.7 is the latest version. Do they roll out different versions to different parts of the world? I'm in New Zealand.

Are you a beta tester for AA? If yes, leave the beta program, reset AA to factory settings and then update to 13.7 via the PlayStore. That solved the display issues for me. I upgraded to 13.9 with an APK file from APK Mirror afterwards, but you don't need to do that. In any case you will have to recouple AA with your car after the reset.
And by the way, in the PlayStore I also see 13.7 as the latest version. I'm in Germany.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I'm not in the beta program and was already running 13.7.650624 so I sideloaded 13.9. The colour of the "next turn box" is great now, but there's still no Route Bar.

Any ideas what to try next?

In that case the only intermediary solution and workaround I can think of is downgrading to AA version 13.3.6446 (from APK Mirror). In my case this was the last version that worked OK with TomTom (before I left the beta program). Good luck!

Someone's commenting on Google Play that "uninstalling all the Android Auto updates, resetting the phone and installing the latest Android Auto update again" fixed the issue. It's machine translated from Italian so hopefully that reset rather means restarting the phone.

I tried all these steps before leaving the beta program, except "resetting" my phone of course, as that would have been much too risky and "painful" obviously. Maybe it's a bad translation from Italian. I restarted it all the times instead. But all this didn't work for me, so I finally left the beta program which solved the problem, at least for me.
I'm now on 13.9 beta which I sideloaded. Everything is working fine now.

I tried that as well, but only ø leaving the Beta programme solved the problem.

I just thought I'd share it but I fully agree, a reset of the phone isn't a good idea. As I mentioned, I could be a glitch in machine translation since the original review is in Italian.

Thanks. I uninstalled the updates to return back to the phone's factory default and then installed 13.3.6446 and the route bar was restored. I then tried updating to 13.9 beta but it disappeared again. Then I rolled back to factory settings again and upgraded directly to 13.9 beta but still no route bar. I reinstalled 13.3 again and it's back. So it looks like I'm stuck on 13.3 for the foreseeable future. I just don't understand why 13.9 beta seems to work for everyone except me. I don't believe I'm in the beta program as if I click on the "leave Beta" button it takes me to a page saying I can't join the program as it is full.

This is very strange, indeed. I don't see a "Leave Beta" button in the Play Store since I left the beta program. I only see the message saying that the beta program is full. See screenshot attached. Are you definitely sure that you are not a beta user?
