How do I reroute given the following scenario:

I'm on a highway with many miles to go. Traffic is crawling due to an accident about a mile away. There is an exit ahead some distance ahead. Do I take it?

Ideally, I would want to tell my XXL 540 to consider three new factors - my estimated speed along the slow section of the current route, where the slowdown begins, and where it ends.

This is the sort of info used with the traffic receiver: i.e. speed between exits.

How do I use my TomTom to help decide whether to take the exit? Can I easily tell it to avoid only the section of highway between the next two exits?

If I use the "roadblock" feature, what assumptions will the software make? It appears to ask the length of the "roadblock", but not ask when it begins.

Does it assume that a roadblock is literally a blocked road, or that it is actually some sort of slowdown?

The "roadblock" feature would have been better named "detour". Tomtom avoids the route at all costs.

Tomtom doesn't have a way of assuming your slower speed and making an intelligent calculation. You'd need a traffic receiver, if you had one it would look at the slow reported traffic speed and decide whether it is faster to go three or around the traffic.
