Tomtom support told me : "the EU mandates USB-C charging ports for a wide range of portable electronic devices. Therefore, we have stopped manufacturing new devices."

"You can check our website, https://www.tomtom.com/fr_fr/navigation/motorcycle-gps/, it is not available for purchase. It is possible that our official partner has existing stocks and they must come from 2024. The mandate entered into force on December 28, 2024." (automatic translation from french sentence)

If Tomtom has not anticipate, is not anouncinhg a new Rider .......

It's understandable that TomTom hasn't released a new Rider to replace the current Riders, but that doesn't mean they're at the end of their useful life.

A GPS device is considered at the end of its useful life when it no longer receives software or map updates.

They already stop development of the software Mydrive!
Today I won't recommend to by a Rider without more information from Tomtom

They haven't stopped developing MyDrive. MyDrive has been replaced by Plan-TomTom.

If you're talking about MyDrive Connect, your Rider 550 is Wi-Fi enabled; you don't need MyDrive Connect to run updates.

I was taking about the mobile application Mydrive. Therefore "Models that offer See Who's Calling and/or Smartphone Messages functionality will unfortunately no longer be able to offer these features, as they will require a connection via the mobile application."
And I buy the Rider because theses features were available!
So what do I do now?

Gotta love these tech support scripts (not).

TomTom most definitely is manufacturing new devices, and with USB-C ports. The whole last generation of Expert, Superior, Exclusive, Camper, etc. are USB-C.

What they're not manufacturing are new units designed specifically for motorcycle use (Rider series).

That said, "End of Life" presumes the cessation of map support, etc., which is definitely not the case for your 550 device.

This is the thread for Tomtom Rider issues !

Maybe maps will still be available, but no software update solving remaining bugs and after sales support ? Did you try already Tomtom aftersales support ? Can't be worse.

I was a Tomtom fan, first Rider in 2007. But the Rider 550 is for me a very bad experience.

The latest software update was released on 05/14/24, this does not mean that there will not be another update in the coming weeks or months.

Maybe when the update is common to car's GPS, but for specific Rider issues ....

Canderson : Tomtom does not sell anymore portable GPS in USA, Canada, Australia ....
