Hi hoping you can help,my rider 550 hard wired to battery continues to shut down even though the battery is charged at any time…hope for some help as when it works it is good but I’m losing confidence with it and it may be thrown under a truck

Hi
Just because your GPS tells you that the battery is 100% charged and you are hardwired to the battery, it doesn't mean that everything will work.

Test it: plug your GPS into a wall charger for your phone for 2 hours, then unplug.

Check how long your GPS stays on.

Ok I’ll try that I wondered whether it was a bad connection from the base that the unit sits on with its two prongs for power and the unit itself,….if there’s adequate power why should it turn itself off?

Contact cleaner! Ok thanks I wouldn’t have thought it necessary but what do I know!
When I was having trouble with my contacts I cleaned them with a pencil eraser, gently, then hit them with contact cleaner. From that point on I hit them on occasion with DeOxit to keep things up. After that one problem I haven't had it again.
