Rider 500
I recently purchased a rider 500 to replace an older failed Garmin unit. After comparing the specs & reviews the TomTom appeared the better choice with safety camera alerts & phone connection. However after having battled with Bluetooth issues & searching for answers it appears I've been robbed! It seems the features I paid for no longer work & are not supported. Will Tomtom update this situation or do I request my hard earned cash back & head back to Garmin?

What features are missing?

If it's for speed cameras and traffic, you'll need to contact TomTom to reactivate your rights.

I haven't lost any rights, the unit simply won't communicate on any level with any phone I've tried via Bluetooth as it's marketed to do so. Therefore not fit for purpose & an infringement of marketing legislation.

Which phone are you trying to connect with and what is the version of the operating system on that phone?
See page 30 of the manual for full connection procedures

Or is it your phone that's not communicating with your GPS?
If Bluetooth isn't working, try connecting via your phone's Wi-Fi to test it.

You haven't been scammed; the Rider 500 has speed cameras and traffic information for life via your phone.

If you receive speed camera and traffic information via your phone's Wi-Fi,

Reset the device to factory settings and pair it again.

I answered something similar in another thread.

This may or may not be a solution for you.

I have a GO620 for my car. Due to a recent update (I can't call it an upgrade), to get the Bluetooth on my Samsung S10 to connect to live services and my 620, I found I had to turn on Bluetooth Tethering - bingo, instant connect.
Go to Settings | Connections | Mobile Hotspot and Tethering | turn on tethering

The unfortunate thing is every couple of days on my S10, I have to make sure it's still turned on. If only there was a schedule I could setup that automatically turned it on every day.

Baz Coy, thanks, after following the suggestions from TOMTOM tech support that mainly involved a factory reset & turning it on & off a lot I saw your suggestion & bingo it seems to work. Cheers.
