TomTom Model(s)
Rider 400 et Rider 500
With my Rider 400 voice guidance is available (I can hear the directions) if the GPS is connected to internet via the PC or the Phone Bluetooth.
This append after a complete OFF - ON, not with standby mode.

I can't find help somewhere...

Please help.

Do you mean voice guidance through the device's speaker or a Bluetooth connected headset? It makes a difference because you are talking about Rider models.
And is this happening with your 400 or your 500? I see that you own both.

This appened with the GPS speaker and only with the Rider 400. I think that it will be the same if using the headset. For a better understanding:
  1. GPS is switched off, completely.
  2. GPS is switched ON with no internet connection.
  3. No sound with the voice guidance.
  4. Internet access via mobile bluetooth.
  5. The voice guidance is ok.
  6. Disconnect the internet access and the voice guidance is ok.
  7. Set the GPS to standby mode and then ON, the voice guidance is still ok.

The problem appened only if the GPS is completely switched off or after a battery empty.

OK. That is very clear now. I think this is the first time we have ever heard this specific problem.
I assume that this problem is new, and that the device used to work properly?
Did something (like a software update) happen just before this problem began? Anything else unusual?

Sometimes, a simple soft reset will clear such problems. It is usually a good first step and not difficult. So let's start there.
Press and hold the power button until you hear the drums, and then release the button immediately.

If that does not help, we will go to step 2.

In June 2022, at the start of a trip, the GPS displayed the waiting cursor for more than 3 hours. Connecting the GPS to MY DRIVE CONNECT a process like a recovery procedure had been done. After that, after a complete Power off I have got the problem.
At the beginning the selection of a route led to the disappearance of the latter on the GPS and after several manipulations the problem is the one I described...

I made a soft reset again but the problem still there.

Many thanks.

Ah, OK. This happened after a 'Recovery' procedure.
What version of the firmware is on your unit now? Was there any firmware update offered after the recovery?

I installed the last one, 22.100.0002.311 dated of 12/11/2022.

If you shut off the Bluetooth connection, does the audio then work on the device speaker after the device awakes from sleep?
I am wondering whether the 400 thinks it is trying to communicate audio with another device via BT, which shuts off the speaker.
Do you have the BT connected just to get data from TomTom?

HI,
Without any device connected, the problem is the same. But note that sometime the GPS make no bip when using menu when the device is ON from a standby mode, never from a complete power off.
I know that my GPS has no garanty status, but is it possible to send it to TOMTOM to be repaired. And if yes wath about the cost?
