I just got a 2012 Megane and I ejected the card to try updating it.
TomTom Home detected the card and I made a backup file and then tried to update it. No updates were available so I put it back in the car and it got stuck in a boot loop of a Renault TomTom splash screen and then an hourglass.
The card now is no longer detected as a device by TTH and Windows tells me there are issues with the card itself. I took a new SD card and used TTH to restore the backup I had previously made. This new card allows the in-car device to boot up properly but now I get the error message that the device "You cannot use this map on this device".

TL:DR - Renault Carminat SD card corrupted. New card made from backup won't allow me to use the same map file.

It may be that the map is a pirated version map or something else so Tomtom Home will not automatically recognize it as an official Tomtom map?

Where did your backup come from?

A backup made on the computer from the SD card or a backup made by TomTom Home?

The backup was made from the SD card that came with the car. The card looks legit, it has the Renault name and TomTom logo on it. However, this original card seems to be corrupted and gets stuck in a boot loop when I put it back in the car.
Basically I have two SD cards both with different issues;
Card 1 - Original card, no longer recognised by TomTom Home and gets stuck when booting up.
Card 2 - New card made from a backup file of card 1, boots up fine but the car device doesn't allow me to use the map file stored on it.

Hi G, did you ever get this resolved as I am having exactly the same problems as you.

If you do not have a backup of your SD card, either on your computer or via Tomtom Home, the only solution is to buy a new map from the Tomtom website.
