After trying a few headsets (owned and other) I realize that there are quite a few pitfalls when it comes
to buying a headset which works well with the Rider satnav/s, and supports all functionality.
Unfortunately - here again - the user manual is of very little help.

My requirements (all high priority) are
- stable BT connection
- volume can be changed from the Rider menu (no phone needed, no app needed, no fuss)
- connects with AND without A2DP, whatever needs to be selected in the Rider setup (here too, no fuss)
- high quality ANC
- small enough to fit under a helmet
- they can be used for other applications, e.g. TV (meaning low latency)

I have been looking at Amazon of course, but this won't tell me whether a product works with the Rider.
Does anybody have a recommendation ?

Did you know that if you don't connect your Rider to your phone, you won't receive traffic?

Yes, I do. Not saying that traffic is useless, but the times and places I ride are carefully selected for having little to no traffic. Megalomania of ego, speed and SUVs to fit well together with pleasure on a moto.

Very much appreciate, thanks.
But I am really looking for in-ear headphones and don't wonna change my nearly perfect LS2 helmet.

Sounds to me more like you want a pair of hearing aids. Some do support the A2DP profile (Phonak, for example) and would work with the TomTom audio.

Funny, ... hearing aids ... It would have never occurred to me.

I can't help you further, in-ear headphones are banned in France.

Apart from the fact that no flic is ever gonna stop you for using head-phones under the helmet, I was always my understanding
that using head-phones are banned if - and only if - used for entertainment while driving. When used for nav, in particular when
they are ANC, there can't be a problem as the announcements are rare, and they do not take away your attention.

If they make cheap ones with Bluetooth (I don't know if they do or not - I've only seen the specs on higher end models), this might be a good solution. Who knows - as you get older, you might find more uses for them!

I've been using S-Plug earbuds with a BT receiver to connect to my Rider 550 for years.

These are multi-day comfortable (for me) and sound isolate like earplugs. They also offer a BT version:

I've used several different BT receivers, one of which is this one:

One note, you mention controlling the volume on the Rider itself. To my understanding that is NOT possible once you connect it to BT...you need a BT receiver that has a volume control, like the one from Amazon I linked. I'm not sure if the S-Plug BT version has a volume control.
