POI's or No POI's

We purchased a Subaru in March that had the built in Tom Tom DUB1. We have used Garmin for years. Whenever we would go to lookup a POI in Garmin the majority of the time it would be in there. In the TomTom the majority of the time the POI is not there. Are we doing something wrong? Do we have to build our own POI database? Just need some direction because at the moment it doesn't seem it is worth what we paid for it.:(

Where are you?

In the UK the POIs have always been pretty poor (they used to be appalling!).
In mainland Europe they varied, much better in some countries than others.
In the US, they seem to have much better sub-categories, so you can specify different brands of fuel and types of restaurants for example.

He's over here with us in Oregon.

The TomTom POI file is interesting - depth without breadth much of the time. It can find all of some things, and none of the competition at times.

I do not know what the DUB1 came with for a POI file .. mostly because I don't know what its standalone "cousin" is.

If you hook up to your PC and take a peek into your North American map folder, check and see how big your POI.DAT file is.
