Rider 550
Hi
I have a Rider 550, previously a Rider 2013 [administered with Home], I now have POI's that appear in my 550 which are not in the My Places folder, I can remove them form the 550, but they appear as an available update, how can I remove them permanently?

Too many My Places! ;)

You say that you have POIs on your 550 which are not in My Places folder -

By this, do you mean that they are on the device, but not seen in the My Places folder at the MyDrive web site? ( https://mydrive.tomtom.com ), but they seem to be at https://mydrive.tomtom.com because they keep re-appearing in the device's My Places every time you delete them from the device?

If that's what you mean, are you sure you are using the same login for the 550's cloud login as you are using at https://mydrive.tomtom.com?

Hi
Thanks for your assistance
On my 550, there are POI's in My Places which I don't know how they got there, I can remove them from the 550 using "Free up space" on My Drive Connect, however, they then appear on my 550 as available updates, although they don't appear as updates on My Drive Connect.
Ideally I want them removed completely.
Answering your question, I only have one login.
I hope this is clearer

MyDrive Connect (the PC app) is not the place to delete your POI. It sounds as though they are still present at the MyDrive online planner https://mydrive.tomtom.com/ and because of that, keep being installed on your 550 when it is found that they are not present on your 550. These need to be removed from your account at https://mydrive.tomtom.com/ first, then deleted from your 550.

Thanks for your continued support, I have checked and they do not exist anywhere on the on line planner :-(
The POI files section in MY PLACES in the online planner is empty

By any chance do you have any other devices that interact with the MyDrive online planner on this same login/password account?

Hi
The other Tomtom is Rider 2013, which as you know is incompatible with MyDrive. I have used Home to connect to it and can't find the files there either.
It's a new 550

Maybe?
Menu > Settings > system > select > Factory reset device.

Then redo the settings.

I have also reset my 550, which obviously clears the info, but when I connect MyDrive, I can see these rogue POI's load, so they are there somewhere !! but where??
I attach a screenshot of the issue

At the risk of teaching my Grandmother to suck eggs, on the MyDrive web planner go to My Places there are two tabs, "Favourites" and "POI Files" are you sure you have looked in the "POI Files" tab?

Hi raeswell, thanks for your reply, indeed I have, I'll attach the photo again

Willy 875, I have reset the device several times, when I connect MyDrive, it loads the unwanted POI's

@ax3biggles
I'd like for you to try this in an attempt to clear out stored info in the cloud. Again, be 100% sure that you're using the same email/password for both the device and MyDrive web.

Hi, I have just reset my 550, without connection via USB, bluetooth or internet and the maps I had previously loaded (Europe West and USA) load, as do the unwanted POI's. It is though they are hard coded on the unit
I followed your advice above, reconnected the 550 and they are still there.
Thanks for your continued support

Best I can suggest is to 'ignore' this phantom data by opening up a new account on MyDrive web and log into that with your device using the same email/password as the new account. You're not limited to just a single account, but it will need a new email address - which doesn't even have to be real if you don't have a secondary address to use already.

Been there, done that :-(
What stumps me is when I reset the unit, I believed it would go back to factory settings, but it reboots and loads the maps and the POI's.
It is as though this is just a reset and not factory reset

Whoa.
You say you have opened an entirely different (new email) account at https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/ and logged your device into THAT account using the new email, and these POIs STILL keep being sent to your device, with the message "New List Added" or similar, when it happens?

When you said way back when "...they then appear on my 550 as available updates...", what do you mean, exactly? POI files that are transferred from the web to your device just happen, they aren't offered.

Correct, they load regardless of login credentials.
I can "remove" them from my 550, but they appear on the 550 as available updates, but there are no available updates on Mydrive, as per previous photos.
I won't take up more of your time, I'll just put up with it. Thanks for you help

I really WOULD like to understand this one thing better since what you are describing seems to be out of my experience with TomTom devices.

You say "...they appear on the 550 as available updates..."

I've never seen POI files appear as 'updates' on one of these devices. You mean like 'updates' such as new maps, firmware, etc?? When present somewhere out in the cloud, if the device - your 550 in the case - doesn't have them yet, they are sent automatically if the device is logged into the TT cloud, not offered as updates, and you just get a message like "New place list added" in a band at the top of the device when this occurs. I would love to see a photo of the place where you see these offered as updates so as to better understand how your device operates!
