Tomtom PLUS traffic says it uses the best data sources available.

Does anyone know if they source from trafficcast now that tomtom uses trafficcast for the 740 LIVE?

Inrix covers only major highways (see here) where trafficcast covers many sideroads (see google or yahoo traffic).

Does anyone here have a PLUS traffic (bluetooth, not RDS-TMC) connection? If so can you see if you get any alerts or congestion updates on sideroads covered by trafficcast and not inrix (per links above)?

I'll buy the PLUS traffic if I know it is getting trafficcast density.

I've wondered for some time just WHAT they are serving up out here in the Denver area. We seem to be getting something I'd call "Inrix Plus" service -- the data includes the routes Inrix claims to report, but also includes details that are not within the scope of their claimed coverage at times. Examples include road closure N of Boulder during a fire, construction notes on roads that, while carrying a good bit of traffic, are not listed on their site as covered, and coverage considerably farther west into the state on I-70 than should be possible. It does, however, seem to mimic what we're getting on one of the local TV channels both over the air and on their web page.

I've never been sure exactly what we're getting out here.

Inrix is supposed to have flow coverage on the major highways, plus incident coverage wherever the local clearchannel company reports it.

So it sounds like PLUS is still sending inrix coverage.

No question that they're tied in with ClearChannel somehow. I wouldn't put too much stock in a report just for this area, though. There's no telling what TT is doing around the country. Given their usual approach to things, it wouldn't suprise me at all if they rolled out the alternate coverage over time, and we're a "middle size" market here. I'd guess the larger markets would see the change first, if it comes.

I don't know who they are using but on long island NY tom tom is correcting on the larger side roads with tom toms own traffic
What kind of information are they displaying at the moment? The "colored" speed indications, road works, etc? I'll be out on the LIE, the Northern Parkway and a few other major traffic areas in a couple of weeks, and it's ALWAYS nice to know what's happening out there  When you say "TomTom's 'own' traffic", do you mean they are starting to pick up the Live stuff now?
