Personal route

As a complete novice to satnavs, I have just bought the Start25. Please can someone tell me how to get a personal route, which avoids certain roads like the M25! I am wanting to drive from Somerset to Suffolk, but avoiding the M25 and the device keeps pushing that route out to me. How do I get over this?

In your Route Planning settings you can check Avoid Motorways.

If you have not done so already I suggest you download the manual at

Also, did you download and install the HOME software to your computer.
It is much easier to use the PC keyboard to enter city and street names.
