Go Professional 620
I currently use a 6200 running truck maps. Why is it that for NZ/AU we are not able to have access to the newer units available elsewhere. I was lucky enough to trial one some time ago and found it a big improvement on what I'm currently using. In particular the more frequent map updates rather than quarterly. It was decided to end the trial and since then nothing new has been available despite them being offered in other parts of the world. It seems the push is towards the Android app version which is identical but so impractical for all day use. Smaller screen plus the inconvenience of not having it visible while receiving phone calls or other things on the phone. I have for now opted to run both but it is far from ideal when a bigger dedicated pnd is much more suited for all day use. Does anyone have any answers for this please.

Cheers.

If you use custom POI, you won't want to get involved with the newer Expert model - at least not at this time. TomTom isn't supporting *.ov2 files on their new models.

That said, how's your budget? You might find that the older and FAR more capable TomTom Bridge devices are excellent devices, and include truck map options. It's a more or less open Android architecture, and you can drop your *.ov2 files right into a folder on the device and start driving. The things are properly fast (will make your 620 look slow when computing a route) and have 7" screens.

Not sure who the source will be for these in NZ, but worth a look. You might even consider picking up a used unit. I have one on my dash here at all times.

You can get an idea of its capabilities here >> https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014295320-Bridge-User-Manual

TomTom sold the division to Bridgestone, so it may show up under either the TomTom or Webfleet name depending on where you can find them there.

The models I'm talking about look like this:

Hi, I'm currently using a go professional 620 with truck maps which for all intents and purposes works fine. The unit I was sent to test was a newer model eg faster and with more frequent map updates. Similar to the models currently being sold in the Northern hemisphere but they are not being offered down here for some reason.
As I said previously the push down here is to use the app on your phone which is rather unsuitable due to smaller viewing area and plus its awkward receiving calls etc during navigation. My real question i guess was why are they not being offered for sale in the southern hemisphere.
