Ok, I'm feeling pretty stupid right now. I deleted the CHK file, thinking it was going into the recycle bin. Well, it's gone now, and of course the 130 locks up on the boot-up splash screen. I've installed Tomtom Home on the computer and tried fixing it that way, and it will update some of the files, but it still won't bootup. Questions:
1. Will replacing this file with another copy fix the problem?
2. Is this file available online or emailed from tomtom or some kind soul?
If I get it fixed, I promise not to monkey around with it like that anymore!
Thanks for any help.

Do you have a backup of your unit's contents? (hopefully Explorer?)

If so, you can restore the backup. If not, in Explorer, do you see the unit as a drive on your computer with folders and files? Especially the specific map folder with stuff in it?

If so, make an Explorer backup of what you have now. Ensure hidden files/folders are showing. Now, delete loose files in the root of the unit using Explorer, Do NOT delete any Folders or files in them.

Connect to Home. Home should offer an application download. Accept it and install. Now, remove the unit PROPERLY from the computer. (Home's Device-->Disconnect).

Restart the unit. Does that help? If so, make another complete Explorer backup. If not, try a reset on your unit (I think your model requires holding the power button for about 15 seconds ... until you hear the drum roll sound)

You are my new best friend!
I'll have to fully test it on the way to work tomorrow, but since it appears to be booting up normally I suspect it's functioning once again. Thank you so much!!!
You saved me the cost of the unit, as well as the cost of replacing the window through which I was just about to throw it.
