GO500
Hello,
I have TomTom Go 500 device, the screen froze with the error No Maps Available. This happened when I Formatted my device in order to install the India map. Now I am unable to connect with My Drive Connect or Tomtom Home on my windows 10 or 11 laptops. I tried all options suggested by TomTom CS but unfortunately, I am not able to remove the error message or connect to the laptop.
Please suggest how I can remove the error message from the screen and install India Map.
Note: I don't have a backup of maps currently on my laptop

It's not your fault entirely, but you've got us confused here. Sadly, TomTom re-used the "GO 500" name some 12 years after it was originally used. For the moment, I will assume that your GO 500 is not one that was released back around 2008, but rather, is one purchased more recently. And no TomTom device can be connected to both Home and MyDrive Connect. Which application were you using successfully before?

But just to be safe, does the serial number of your device start with the characters "M3" (antique, sold ca. 2008) or the letter "Q" (sold just a few years ago)?

Please explain what you mean by "when I Formatted my device". Formatting is not necessary for installation of a map on any TomTom device. And "format" would only be possible on a really old device - unless you're talking about formatting a memory card. What exactly did you do?

Hello,
Thanks for your mail, My Device serial Number starts with Q, the first two digits are QT, and the model name is GO 510, and it's an old unit but working very well till I formatted it. I mean I used the factory setting in order to remove the Europe map and install the India map on it but now when I restarted the unit I got a No Maps Available error. Moreover, my device is not getting recognized either in My Drive Connect or TomTom Home hence I cannot add this device to my account. My Device has frozen on the No map available error. Please advise how i can remove this error and reinstall the new Map.

It is midnight here and I must go to bed now, and have some family obligations first thing in the morning. But do not think I have given up.

The first thing we need for you to do is connect your device to your PC, turn on your device, and see if your PC recognizes your device. If you are using Windows, your 510 should show up as a network device in Device Manager. If your PC cannot see it, then MyDrive cannot see it, either.

Yes, you are right I checked it my network device does not show 510 in the Device Manager. I tried all option of using a windows 10/ 11 laptop, changing ports, using different USB cables, and short and long start but nothing worked for me. MyDrive is not getting detected.

Hi,
Yes
1. Used USB Cable directly with device and computer
2. changed ports connect with USB cable
3 used different USB cable
4 Did restart connecting the device to the computer
5 changed pc from win 10 to 11
6 checked Firewall settings
7 Did a short restart and long press
but nope nothing working for me:(

Hi,
you are right my windows 10/11 laptop network adapter is not showing tomtom device.i also checked in other device but no its not there.Any advice what can be done to resolve this issue?

If you have a connection problem with MyDrive Connect...(Delete the home3 and MyDrive Connect folders) reinstall Mydrive connect.

Is the USB cable an original Tomtom cable?
try with a new tomtom cable if possible.

In Device Manager have you tried deleting the driver as in the FAQ?

OK - popping back in between errands...

YES, it is very important that MyDrive Connect is working properly (though you don't need the MyDrive app screen up once you've run it once) since it makes the magical USB to TCP/IP connection, and is why the device shows up as a network device in Device Manager instead of a USB device. Your 510 should appear as a "Remote NDIS Compatible Device" under "Network Adapters".

Hi,
Yes I tried that, I deleted My drive and Home and reinstalled it. With regards to driver in device manager, there is no Tomtom RNIDS driver in network adapter which I can uninstall.
I also changed USB cable and tried on different ports.
Basically the device is not getting detected I even checked drivers of usb ports.

Yes sir, you are right it should appear in RNDIS in NA, but this is what I am not getting right now. So what might be way forward?

First, forget Home. It has no value with a modern day TomTom device, and only confuses the issue. Stick with the MyDrive Connect app.

Let us see if your computer sees your device at ALL! I am going to attach a zip of a program called USBDeview. It is a standalone program, not requiring an installer, and can therefore be placed along with its associated files and run from anywhere on your PC. I'd unzip the files into a folder of their own and run USBDeview from there.

Run this program and you will see all USB devices connected to your PC. Connect your device and power it on.

You should see a new entry appear in USBDeview. Under the "Device Name" column, look for "TomTom GO 510", and a "VendorID" of 1390 in that column. If you do see this, than we know that Windows is at least correctly seeing and identifying your GO510 as a USB device.
