I'm in a new location and I cant get a gps signal! Help! Its been 6hrs. and I cant get where I need to go! Could the airport scanners have fried my gps?

If your new location is significantly distant from your previous location, you have just fooled your poor TomTom. When you powered it up, it had some expectation of what satellites would be in the sky at that time, and then discovered that they weren't there, and others were there instead.

You need to get your unit out into a clear space with open view to the sky and give it as much as 12-1/2 minutes (absolute worst case) from the time it sees the first satellite to reacquire the almanac data and apply it to your new location. It's the same problem and process as when you take a unit new out of the box and use it for the first time.

This is a common issue when flying with a unit across the country or overseas.
