New unit won't charge

Hi, I just got a new 540 TM XXL from Amazon. It's been charging from my USB since about 1:10 pm yesterday. It's now 3:38 am (so about 14 hours). The green LED light is on indicating it's charging. I had the unit turned on, while it was charging for about the first 45 minutes, since I didn't know what to make of this. But have since kept the unit off only turning it on periordically just to see if it was charged. But I still can't get past the initial screen that says, "Please Wait." At this point, I'm pretty sure, if I left it connected to my computer indefinitely, it would not charge.

Any sugestions, before I send it back?

I'd return it. It seems many posters here lately are getting a bad batch of 540's from Amazon. The unit should boot properly.
