New Go 500
1) So am driving from point A to point B and I keep getting a random pop up screen, with a previous fast message that it is loading a map. The pop up says MARK LOCATION and it also says AVOID BLOCKED ROAD with also the name of the road I am driving on below it. I can maybe get that pop up menu to disappear by using the back arrow in the upper left corner, some times. This just pops up for no reason, and blocks the center of the screen.

2) Am also having problems with the screen recognizing finger press. It just will not recognize that, and sometimes have to push slightly above the screen button.

3) Finally have had the NEW GO 500 completely lock up, where I had to turn it off, and back on again just to get it to start working.

Did a full system reset by finding that in the menu, but was still experiencing these problems. How annoying and useless when I am on a trip and having this happening.

Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds. If that doesn't help, call support:

I tried the drum role reset, which seems to be the same as POWER OFF and then turning it on. If I hold the power button for a while I get this long black/white text menu on the GPS with a bunch of information. So I held the power button even longer, and it does restart the whole GPS again. that's not real helpful when you are navigating and have to do this several times.

Just upgraded the software to the latest version (via MYDRIVE to 15.401 version), and am attempting to update all the maps. That might help, but not sure.

Still no answer to the AVOID BLOCK ROAD and the MARK LOCATION just random popping up, about ten times during a trip. Is there any way to turn that off from ever happening? Is the GPS attempting to load a new map, or to update the map, and mistakenly thinks I am in a new location? (speculation on my part).

yes I will call soon.

You might be running into an issue where there is some dirt under the bezel and the pressure seems to causing phantom keystrokes. Try running the sharp edge of a business card completely around the perimeter of the screen.

A drum reset is not the same as just turning the device on and off. A reset also clears out bits and pieces of stuff still in memory. A simple on/off doesn't do that. It's the same as with a computer. Turning it completely off has a different effect than just putting it into sleep mode.

had a screen protector on it. am trying just to remove the screen protector and see if that makes a difference in responsiveness to touch, or with resistance to phantom touches that are unreal. will see.

Good luck with that. While we haven't (yet) seen reports of screen protector issues on these new models, it would often hit the old resistive screens of prior generations. Won't be surprised if the removal helps.
