I wanted to give my feedback here as well:
I paid for 1 year $20USD subscription for TomTom Go EXPERT Android user on smartphone and at times on Android Auto Car Screen. The interface and algorythm are beautiful and smart. Great nav app - no issues for me. Here is my feedback however on TomTom Go EXPERT (not AMiGo version).
So, I live in upstate New York and we recently had an unusually high amount of rain and winds, and it gets really dark around 19:00 hours here (7PM). After finishing my gym workout at 19:00 the rain stopped here, and I decided to use TomTom Go EXPERT on Android Auto Car Screen, and at the same time on my SMARTPHONE i opened Google Maps Nav to drive home just for heck of it to compare the latest in both apps on the ANdroid.
So, imagine this: You are driving on the freeway, after heavy rain finished, with 2 nav apps: TomTOm Go EXPERT on AA Car Screen and on smartphone u have Goole Maps Nav open and you are driving. Since 19:00 here it gets really dark in upsatte NY so you are driving and glancing at Car Screen TT and G-Maps on smartphone occasionally. About 20 minutes into the drive on the dark freeway at around 19:20hours, Google Maps Voice Alert comes ON and says: OBJECT ON THE ROAD AHEAD! Tomtom did not alert anything. TomTOm stays QUiet.
So you slow down on the freeway in the dark evening drive, post-rain, after your workout.
And guess what you see in front of you 1 mile later in the dark evening drive on the freeway post-rain on your drive? A FALLEN TREE THAT FELL, AND IS BLOCKING ENTIRE PART OF FREEWAY of your lane where u r driving (the opposite side was open) but on your side - the fallen tree.
Can you imagine driving on the freeway in the dark wee hours, post-rain on the freeway, and blasting into that fallen tree on your way home?
I am SO GRATEFUL to people who mark the OBJECT ON THE ROAD AHEAD alert on the google maps who drove this way before me, I think they saved my life and my car from damage in the dark wee hours of the drive home.
So, I am now using MORE Google Maps for the reason of these ALERTS and I am SO GRATEFUL to people who pressed the ALERT on their Goole Maps to alert other drives on this roadway.
I hope tomtom go EXPERT will have this ALERT option as well (I know old AMigo Tom has the alert option but I do not use that one-I use EXPERT one whcih dont have the ALERTS), but I truly am using Google Maps more now for this reason for ALERTS!
I think G Maps saved me from serious damage. I am using now G Maps more for this alert reason.
