Why are the UK maps especially here in Cornwall so out of date and wrong?
Service stations missing that have been built for years, roads not correctly joined to other roads ie dead ends showing on sat nav when in reality there isn't one!

What's the issue with TomTom?
Google have it spot on so why not TomTom?

And yes my device is upto date

Can you give a few actual examples.
When did you last update your maps?

Updated last weekend, the version is 2025.
In Newquay Cornwall .
If you look at TOMTOM map a service station on the roundabout below Morrisons doesn't exist, been built for years now.
There is also a new road and another no longer exists and a whole housing estate built in the same area.
In Newquay town look for Morris Pasties, then look at glover road, that actually joins bank street,
Also look for Slots Europe in Newquay a road called Tram Way is missing this joins East Street to what is shown as a dead end, that road has always joined east street so how has tomtom have it as dead end?
Check Google out.

Perhaps if TomTom listened to the customer more, they wouldn't have lost so much market share!
Tbh I'm putting the sat nav in the bin, it's useless
I'm a delivery driver, I need reliability not a device that sends me round in circles

Tomtom is not losing market share. Tomtom is focusing more on the automotive sector and location technology than on GPS.

Checking out Google as you recommended. Appears that even their most recent aerial data doesn't show anything there as of 2025. The entire 'quadrant' of this photo shows the area SW of the roundabout to all be under construction recently. Perhaps you could shoot us some latitude/longitude or more specific location?

I can certainly see how that mistake could be made. Banks is, except for the few feet allowing a right turn off of Gover Ln. (not Glover Rd.) a pedestrian walkway. Bollards on the left. What's happened there is the mapping didn't pick up the 30' or so of Banks (aka Southwest Coast Path) that allows for vehicles. The entire rest of it is pedestrian-only.

I assume you mean Slots Amusements, not Slots Europe?

Again, similar to the Gover issue, there's an question of a road converted to a pedestrian-only path here (Southwest Coast Path again). This little stub is pretty crazy. You'd have to back out of it if you entered. It's a dead end with no turn-around.

Understand that TomTom obtains information on such changes from the municipalities that are in charge of the streets. If the information doesn't come across, the changes require someone who spots this kind of thing (like you) to report it.

@darren.haley I have checked google maps
  • In June 2023 there was not a service station to the south of the roundabout south of Morrisons
  • Glover Lane does not actually join Bank Street as Bank Street is a restricted pedestrian zone
  • The Tram Trak becomes a dead end after about a 100m from its junction with East Street to become the SW Coast Path

Tbh Tomtom is no good, us van drivers are ditching it in favour of Android Auto

I drive in Newquay, use Android auto, put my tomtom in the bin, waste of money, and now I understand why

It certainly is. That red dot in my earlier aerial view is Morrisons. You specified the area to the south, which is all under construction. Again, if you'd supply coordinates, that would help.

Agreed on 1st and 3rd items.

However, Gover Ln. does join Bank Street, however briefly, and must do so. At the S end of Gover (a one way southbound) there's about 20'~30' of the pedestrian walkway that is shared to provide an exit for the S end of Gover to Central Square.

Android Auto isn't a navigation program. It's what allows other programs from your phone to be seen and interacted with on the vehicle's screen rather than the phone. So what program are you actually using for navigation? Google maps?
