Korando C220
Hello,

I'm reaching out for assistance in obtaining navigation maps for the SsangYong Korando C220. Unfortunately, the maps are no longer available for download on the official SsangYong navigation shop website - https://ssangyong.navshop.com/#/downloads. My friend attempted to use the maps for the C300 model, but they are incompatible, and since no backup was made, the navigation system is now non-functional.

If anyone has access to the correct maps for the C220 or knows of an alternative solution, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any support.

Best regards,
Marko

Hi

I think you have a zip file on your computer, so reinstalling it will copy only the map file to the SD card.

You can't install a map from another GPS device because of the serial number.

There is no serial number or anything like that as it was simply downloaded from this site without any additional steps.

You're going to have to contact SsangYong / KG Group directly to find out why their map supplier (with whom they contract for this service) isn't providing ones for your model.

One alternate, though it may prove difficult... it seems navshop.com is really tomtom.com under the hood. You might try contacting them directly. That said, the C220 hasn't been sold since 2017, and it's possible that the device in the vehicle doesn't have the memory capacity to handle the newer, larger maps. There are any number of TomTom devices that are now EOL (end of life) for map support due to this issue.

I'd say your best bet is to get into a Korando user group site and see if anyone with one of the older models can provide you with the file(s) on a thumb drive. There's no guarantee that the maps won't be locked to a specific serial number of the device in your vehicle, but it's worth a shot.

Hi everyone
I’ve just got myself a 2016 Korando (smashing car!). I got in touch with a local Ssangyong/KGM dealer to see about updating the AVN and they were able to give me a file to update the unit to R6.2 ( although I think the unit actually has an update labelled “R6.3”. I checked the “navshop” site with the wayback machine). I’m hoping they’ll be able to supply a map update too. The relevant person at the dealer is on holiday and the file will be c. 7.6GB, so I’m imagining there could be problems. Also, according to the wayback machine, that update was last available early in 2020! I’m sure the file still exists somewhere but the dust is definitely going to need blowing off it!

Addendum…
I can give your friend my original files if they still need them. I backed up my original to a 32GB SD card and it seems to be working fine. No serial numbers or anything needed. I suppose the only caveat would be the system needs to be for a C200/220 (ie Korando between 2010 & 2017 afaik).

Another addendum…
Called KGM customer services about the issue. They were nice and made a note about the lack of files on “navshop”, but ultimately sent me to TomTom. Contacted TomTom and they sent me back to KGM! Passing the buck much…! 5 years ago! Ancient IT history!!#builtinobsolescence

It's normal for TomTom to direct you to the SsangYong dealership.

TomTom provides the maps and software to SsangYong.
If SsangYong doesn't request new updates, TomTom won't do the work.

Hi,, Can I have them as well please?

Hi,
gone to the wayback machine, the only one that shows the complete page is the 2019 trawl, it allows you to select the car and model number (C200/C220). After that the trail dies…
If I could borrow the original files from anyone for my 2019 Korando c LE I would be eternally grateful.

Have you asked your dealer if they can provide the files?

In any case, even if you have the files, your GPS won't work without the map; a map can only be used on one GPS unit.

Another solution is to send a private message to wheeltapper so he can give you his files.

Dealer doesn’t have the files…

How do I talk to Ian (staff member)? Tried to start a conversation with Wheeltapper, but a pop up appeared saying unable to complete, talk to Ian (staff member)

Click on your avatar, then on conversation

Hi again,
I still keep getting the “Oops we have a problem, talk to Ian”pop up.
I’m clearly not doing something right…

Hi.
Even if you recover the files, your GPS still won't work.
The WheelTapper map won't work on your GPS.
