Maps Country Price Difference

Hi,

I am from South Africa and trying to update my South African maps.
I have noticed that when I register with a South-African address the maps will cost me around R950.00 but when I register with a UK address, the exact same South African maps will cost me R550.00 ??????? What the hell???

Why the price difference of R400?

Now, if I register with a UK address and buy the South African maps, will I be able to install it on a Tomtom I bought in South-Africa?

Quentin,
No one from South Africa has informed us if he has gone the UK route and if so if it was OK.
This is a peer to peer forum and we do not know the outcome for such an incidence.

That is quite a difference.
At one time they claimed the fullfillment place was the Netherlands and charged us 21% VAT. Now it is treared as a Canadian sale and we just pay 13%.

Thanks, I have now posted the same on their Forum and asked customer support. I really don't want to pay the South-African rate as I can buy a new Tomtom for a little more than what the maps cost.

Basically the only answer I need is this:
1. I live in South Africa and bought a Tomtom in South Africa.
2. I registered on the Tomtom website using a UK postal address and want to buy the South African maps at the cheaper price.
3. Will I be able to install the Maps on my Tomtom?

I don't think I will have any problems, but I need to be sure.

Okay, I phoned support and this was the answer.

They are currently running a special on the South African maps in the UK at 19 pounds, hence the reason for the price difference.
The support lady also told me that I can use the UK registration and buy the maps at the cheaper price and I will have no issue installing it on my Tomtom.

So for other SA people's, it's a great price for the maps.
