Map updates

I have Tom Tom G Superior and it is showing that have map updates for Ireland and UK but when I press to upload they start to upload get half way downloaded then go back to map updates says need to connect to I turned but sat nav will not connect to Internet. Omes up with oops cannot cannot. Connect at the moment please try later.

Question: Do you update via Wi-Fi?
Is your GPS also connected to your computer?

Thanks Willy875 for getting back to me when first bought updated using both ways at different intervals after posting on tomtom forum I could not get the satnav to do anything so pressed the switch off button on the back the screen displayed shutting down and the little icon started to spin round and 45 mins later was still doing it's thing had then to go outso left it trying to shut down when got back couple hours later sat nav had shut down but only due to battery going flat, thanks for your help but am now going to scrap the sat nav a d not to get another tomtom will source another make

For small updates, no problem, however for large map updates, you absolutely must connect the GPS to a mains charger.
