TomTom Model(s)
Go 520
I'm trying to find how to download the latest truck map (version 926 I think) and where to find it, to put on my Go 520. Tom Tom say it's not a truck satnav so they can't help. I bought it second hand a couple of years ago with truck software in and it's great but the maps are getting a bit out of date: it says it's currently on version 925.

If you got that device with a truck map, then the software was hacked to allow you to use the truck map on that device. Sorry.

The latest truck map is way beyond 926 (961 should be released in the next week or so), but as dhn says, the 520 isn't designed to hold any truck map, much less a current one.

Well that answers a problem i am currently facing. I too bought a 'Truck sat nav' from ebay. after reading your reply I checked mine and i think my 520 too was hacked to make the truck nav run. My 520 is currently faulty, so I bought a 530 as a quick fix on the grounds that it had an an SD expansion slot and would accept my truck Sd card. Having come here and read a few posts I now know it wouldn't work. :( I was thinking of officially updating the maps and device. but it will be a waste of money methinks? If i understand my problem properly.. I either need to buy a device that will accept my SD card. or.. hack my replacement Go 530! Using anything but Tomtom to do my artic truck navigation fills me with dread! I need a solution fast. However, spending £300 on a new model isn't one of them!

Indeed. Trying to update anything on that unit with TomTom maps or firmware will be a problem if it's not a legit truck unit. However, there WERE a few GO units made available by TomTom with the truck feature. Yours MAY be legitimate, though I would not give you longs odds in favor of it. I've seen/heard of many more offered that were not. However, you will never be able to swap maps between units due to serial number keying, so the 530 replacement was a non-starter.

Rather than the £300 for a new device, I contacted Tomtom and they offered me a 25% discount on a new device (I think it was because I already had a device registered with them). I bought a new Tomtom Trucker after a bit of saving-up and 25% off makes a big difference: this may be a help to you.

What model of 'TomTom Trucker' did they offer, and for how much? PRO 5250? PRO 7250? 8270/8275 (awesome, but pricey!)?

Very decent price compared to MSRP, and nice that they offered the newest gear. Yes, that's the GO 6000 but with ability to configure vehicle specifications and with truck map included. We don't get those models here in the U.S.

So I can add this one to my 'master list', can you provide the first two characters of the serial number on that unit? I'm guessing it starts with a "Q" like the other 6000s, but don't know for sure.

It's Z4.

Much appreciated. Added to my 'collection'.
