Low Emission Zone Not Avoiding

Hi Filipino,
This week I updated the software etc, on my Go Superior.
I then set a route to the centre of Bristol which is in the Clean Air Zone, a warning flashed up on the screen saying No route possible that avoids these: Low Emission Zones:

As I don’t live near to Bristol, I am unable to test it in practice.
When I zoomed in on the map it did show the Zone area on it.
Hi Valvejockey, hope you are all good.
I did think that if you please could do a couple of tests for me, if you can make a destination going to 148 High St, Hounslow TW3 1LR, and see if you get a warning and another one going to BP the oil company, Chertsey Rd., Ashford, Sunbury-on-Thames TW16 7LN and you could do a route starting from, 12 Long Lane, Staines upon Thames, TW19 7AA. Maybe we can understand if is my device or the London LEZ/ULEZ is not included into the AVOID option.
Thank you.

Regards, Filippo

No Problem Filippo,
And all is good, and thanks for asking although I am fed up with the rain.
I will do a route plan for you later today, and get back to you.

Cheers,
Valvejockey

Sorry Filippo for my late reply.

Both of the routes I planned did not warn me that I was going into a Clean Air Zone, even when zooming in on the map where it still showed both locations and routes inside of it.

It also wouldn’t let me plan a route just starting from 12 Long Lane, as both routes started from my location and went via Long Lane.

Try and plan a route starting from your location to the centre of Bristol, to see if you get a warning that you are entering a Clean Air Zone, which I get every time.

Cheers Valvejockey.

Hi Valvejockey, that's ok there is not hurry. That is a good idea of you, yes I just tried and it does warn me about the LEZ, it say there is not route to avoid, why it does work for London? I will pass this info to TomTom support, I will let you know when and if this will be sorted out.

Have a Nice Weekend, thank you.

Cheers Filippo

I was going from Cambridge to the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent when on the M25 long delays were building up, due to an accident it turns out. Despite having ‘avoid low emission zones’ selected my device diverted me off and inside the M25 through the ULEZ. I have auto pay for ULEZ and sure enough was charged £12.50. (This is the first time I have been charged, I set it up before a trip to Heathrow but managed to drive in and out without being picked up by the cameras).

I contacted Tom Tom via email and after a bit of back and forth they all but admitted the avoid low emission zones facility just does not work. For my troubles they extended by speed camera subscription for a month which is certainly not worth £12.50.

I don’t normally drive in London but do often use the M25 and I wanted the avoid ULEZ just so that I would not be diverted through the zone. Very disappointing.

Hello Darksidecat, well that is not just a problem but is a feature that should work as described from TomTom and it works only in 2 ULEZ area. I have been talking with TomTom support about it and been told they will sort it out the ULEZ and the connectivity problems, yeah, my Go Superior 7 get stuck when is trying to get connected to the internet and I need to reset it, not all the times but often. Is your one not having the same issue as well? So far nothing is done.

I have tried to go to others area with LEZ and the only ones that warn you about the LEZ are Bristol and Birmingham, Bradford Bath Portsmouth Sheffield and Tyneside, they do not warn you about LEZ.

Therefore on 8 LEZ only 2 they actually work. Well, if in another 2 months they are not coming with a solution I think I am going to ask for a full refund or another model that has not any problems, they are selling these Go Superior with a malfunction and they know it and it's not nice, let's hope it will get sorted out.

Regards, Filippo

Now you come to mention it, I do have to reset it quite often when it shows it’s not getting traffic information. It’s strange as usually my phone and the device will both say Bluetooth is connected. I thought it was just me!

Yeah it does often and even if it shows is connected sometimes it is not and on my device when the Bluetooth is on I get a notification from the device itself saying there is a problem with the phone and you think I got now an iPhone 16 Pro Max. From TomTom support been told to not use the Bluetooth but for now until they fix it to use only wi-fi connection. To be honest I think they tried with the last update to sort it out, the one it was saying it was required but it didn't work.

Hullo Chums,
I just searched for TomTom Go Superior not avoiding ULEZ and found this post! I purchased last Nov having been assured by TT that this would enable me to avoid London's ULEZ but the damn thing just routes straight through it.

Do you have any updates on why this is or when TT are going to fix this problem, please?

I am also still waiting for them to sort it out.
Why advertise a product as being able to avoid ULEZ zones when activated.
And then doesn’t do it.

Hello everyone, well after emails with tomtom support it still not sorted out, last, a few days agao been told they are going to sort it out but it may need 1 or 2 maps update to have the problem to avoiding the ULEZ/LEZ zones working. I cannot understand how they sell something that is not tested, as I said:

Therefore on 8 LEZ only 2 they actually works. So we got to just wait and hope. And another thing I am noticed is about speed cameras, with my old go 6250 used get updates at last every month and even less and often than a month but now so far with the go superior 7 I don't think I got even once, strange, how we get the speed cameras update just with maps update or how? I think I am going to send another email to tomtom. Thank you. Filippo

As long as your device is being connected to WiFi or Bluetooth for traffic, or connected to WiFi at home, it is getting updates in real time now rather than having to download and install new files manually. New locations are automatically pushed to your device.
