Lost Files

Hi guys

Could one of you Gurus please help?

I was given a TomTom Xl from a friend who didn't need it anymore. Not sure where he got it, but it seemed to be working ok.
Another friend told me that I could have the machine "reformatted" and it'd be good as new.

He messed up and has lost some files somehow. Now when I turn on it just shows the initial screen with a picture of the device and a cable attached.....that's it. I can get into the device where all the files are stored in folders.

Is there anyway to upload a new load of files to get it up and running???

There are a few numbers underneath it:

N14644 and RB4498K08067 by a barcode!!!

If you don't have a map backed up, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

Connect the device to the computer and look at the contents with Explorer (not Internet Explorer). Do you see a FOLDER called something like UK_and_ROI? If so, what's in the folder?

United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-27.meta

etc

When i use TomTom Home and click Manage my Device, it says Maps (1).....does that mean anything?

Just unplugged it from my Mac and went through the initial setup only to find No Maps!!!!!!!!

Check again with Finder.
Your 'cline.dat' and 'cname.dat' should be inside your Folder named United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland
