Go discover
Hi, everyone need some help. I have just bought a tomtom Go Discover and when I enter the longitude & latitude coordinates like it says on the screen to enter it can’t find the destination. I have tried entering it in different ways but nothing works. So if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated. Thanks. Mark.

I use lat/long frequently.
Go to Search, and press in the upper right corner where it says Whole Map. You'll see several options. Select Latitude / Longitude, and enter your coordinates in one of the 3 formats shown. The location is then shown on the map.

BTW, the coordinate examples are showing your current location in lat/long.

Please explain what "doesn't work". At what point does the process fail?

I use this feature on my Discover almost every day.

I was trying to plan a route into another country so it probably won’t let me use the coordinates until I am in that country. I will have to plan my route on the computer. Thanks.

After you have entered the requisite number of digits, there should be an address shown below the coordinates. Press on the coordinates or the address, your choice. The map point and the coordinates or the address show up on the map.

In this instance, I have selected the coordinates.

Can you supply for me the coordinates you are using?

Do you have the map loaded on your Discover for the country you have in mind?

I can bring up a coordinate pair for any country I have loaded.

I'm guessing the reason it isn't working for you is that you're asking it to show you a coordinate on a map you have never loaded to your device. Pretty hard for it to do that!

Latitude & Longitude:

45°31'16.9"N 0°55'18.6"E

Give me a bit to load up France and I'll see what those coordinates cause on my devices.

OK. I'll start by saying that ddºmm'ss" is my least favorite format to enter, but ... the syntax for the device in that format is

N 45º31'17" (rounding up as it doesn't take decimal seconds, as noted in the format examples it shows) E 0º55'19" (rounding up again)

Those coordinates put me at Saint-Jory-de-Chalais, 24000, in Jalinie

I would note that every .1" difference is only about 10 feet. So the rounding issue isn't critical. Round the right way, and you're always within about 50', worst case.

Ok yes that’s the place I was looking for. So basically just round the last digits up. I would have never have known that. Well thank you so much for your help much appreciated.

Decimal degrees to 5 after the decimal is as close as the device could ever possibly find a point, and easier to enter. So if you are presented with coordinates in that alternate format, go with those

(dd.ddddd d.ddddd)

Just a warning for those trying to use the online MyDrive planner for this sort of thing -- It is VERY rigid about the format it accepts, especially compared to the devices themselves which are far more robust in this regard. I've asked TT before to have this poor parsing of coordinate data improved, but no joy:

Decimal minutes
N40 00.000, W105 00.000 = NO GOOD
40 00.000, -105 00.000 = NO GOOD

Decimal degrees
40.00000, -105.00000 = OK
N40.00000, W105.00000 = NO GOOD

Degrees/Mins/Secs
40 00’ 00”, -105 00’ 00” = NO GOOD
N40 00’ 00”, W105 00’ 00” = NO GOOD

Hi. How I can see coordinates of point? For example: I choose a point in Italy, and I want to know coordinates? In old Tom Tom, after holding on, like Google Maps, you can see it. How it works on Tom Tom 520 or 6520?
