TomTom Model(s)
Obsolescent Go Live 1005 Camper
My Live Services expired 20/02/22.

My device shows Zero Days on each element (Traffic, Weather, etc).

When I log in to my account at Tomtom.com on my PC, it shows my account as active, and the renewal date as 20/02/23.

Incidentally, this auto renewal is something I have not asked for.

Meanwhile if I try to access the renewal option on my elderly 1005 device, it shows that the renewal service is currently unavailable, and requires me to try again later ?

With regular monotony, I have had problems renewing Live Services on this device since day one.

Am I alone in being unable to e-mail my query to the TomTom experts, or is there no longer any option to do so ?

As an aside, I have not seen the financial transaction recorded on my bank account, as the tardiness within both TomTom's and my banks accounting systems means that transactions do not show up for 4 or 5 days after implementation.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Although I have little faith in 'Chat' communications, I gave it a whirl, and had a favourable result.

Here is a copy of the Chat, with all the social platitudes removed.

(10:04:57) Kuldeep Dimble: Thank you for contacting TomTom. My name is Kuldeep. I will be glad to assist you today.

(10:05:05) Client: My device indicates Live Services are expired. My account (on my PC) indicates that I have paid for renewal up to 20/02/23. Please advise

(10:06:55) Kuldeep Dimble: Please allow me few minutes to check the device and the order history.

(10:08:00) Client: OK

(10:09:48) Kuldeep Dimble: Press and hold the power button on the TomTom device for 50 seconds, if you are able to hear a loud drum sound on the TomTom device, release your finger immediately for your TomTom device to reboot by itself.

(10:10:08) Kuldeep Dimble: Try the above reset procedure on your TomTom device and check if the service show as restored?

(10:10:37) Client: OK I have done that

(10:12:10) Kuldeep Dimble: Do you see the changes on your TomTom device or do you still get the expiring message on your TomTom device?

(10:12:52) Client: Yes. the renewal date has now changed to 20/02/2024 ??

(10:13:34) Kuldeep Dimble: Please try the reset again. it should be 2023.

(10:15:02) Client: OK, wait a minute. It is still showing 20/2/2024

(10:17:40) Kuldeep Dimble: Not a problem. I did check your account and the services have been activated twice, so nothing to worry about, you should be able to use these services till 2024.You can use these services as the system got it activated twice. You don't have to renew the services till 2024.

(10:18:59) Kuldeep Dimble: Is there anything else I can help you with today?

(10:21:09) Client: Will the charges be taken from my bank account twice now, or will one charge be taken each year?

(10:22:39) Kuldeep Dimble: You should have only one deduction on your account that would be in the year 2024, you won't have any deductions for the extended period, which got activated by the system in error.

(10:27:37) Kuldeep Dimble: Thank you for contacting TomTom Chat. Have a great day! Bye!

Oddly enough, I had already tried the reboot procedure a couple of times with no effect, I will now keep an eye on my bank account in order to see if I am only charged once.

Having got that issue sorted, I now have another one !

My drive connect shows that an update is available - 70Kb - QuickGPSfix

I update, and am informed that the update was successful, and my device can be disconnected, BUT the option to update the 70Kb QuickGPSfix is still showing on the MyDriveConnect screen. I try again to update, but end up with the same result.

It seems as if this update does not want to , .............. er ,................. update ???

Anybody any ideas as to what is going on here?

I have tried updating on two different computers, with the same result.

Thanks for that !

It was confusing me somewhat.
