Does it typically take the One 5 to 8 seconds to respond and then recalculate the route after you make a wrong turn? I have v2

It depends on your signal strength. I would say for me about 2-5 seconds.

I had to install my backup to the card since I suddenly had the "red X" and now my actual recalculation is much faster, but it seems I must travel 5 to 10 seconds past the indicated turn before it kicks in even though I have maximum reception. Is this the normal response time??

Yes, it takes about that long for the unit to realize that you are off the route.
