How does the Live Traffic Feature Work?

Received the XL 335T for Christmas. Other than the initial map upgrade is there any Activation Code or setting required for the Live Traffic feature?

Just "load and go". Hook up using the car charger with the little oval wart on it.

It works by picking up FM station subcarrier signals that carry traffic data from ClearChannel stations.

It's not to be confused with TomTom's "Live" traffic, BTW. That uses a built in cell phone of sorts in the Live models to handle the traffic data. The 335T is not a "Live" model.

It's not LIVE traffic on that model, it's rds-tmc traffic which is not as accurate or current as the LIVE models provide.

You should have received a combo car charger/rds-tmc antenna with your unit. Just plug it in, look for the message that rds-tmc antenna connected and wait for the traffic bar to show on the right side.

This only works when using the charger, obviously. Not as a stand alone.
