How do i set a via in my route

I want to get from A-C via B, how do I tell the tomtom to do this. Am I forced to tell it A-B, then at B tell it B-C?

One way is plan a route from A to C and then use the Find Alternate option and select point B there.

Another way is using an Itinerary from A to C with B as a waypoint.
