How do I get the screen to turn off between directions?

When my tomtom in unplugged or plugged in and fully charged the screen will go black between turns. If I am charging it while using the screen stays on the whole time. I would like it so the screen goes black between directions no matter if I am charging or not. Mainly because I constantly look at the screen to see how far I have to go and it gets annoying. I have looked though the preference and changed settings but anything that I think should work does not.

Welcome to the forum, try Change Preferences/ Battery saving preferences and select the checkbox for "Dim screen between instructions" - Mike
