Hooking up TomTom to battery on motorcycle

Looks like a pretty nifty gadget - an easy bypass of having to buy the female-on-a-cable cig adapter for situations where you really need something hardwired and not in a cig adapter.

Actually that's the third very old topic where you've mentioned that adapter! I doubt the original questioners are still looking, but of course it may well be useful for other searchers.

However, although it's a bit neater than a cigarette lighter adapter and normal car charger, it's still another plug and socket rather than a full hard-wired solution that some were asking about. I don't know how robust USB is likely to be somewhere down on a vibrating bike in the wet.

Also, I'm wondering if those SAE connectors are common outside the US? I'm not a biker, but I've seen a lot of connectors in my time and I've never seen one like that before.

I'd already done that :) That's what surprised me that I'd never seen them before.
