Home wall plug put into windshield mount?

Can the home charger plug be put into the power port on the windshield mount? If I'm out of town for a while, it seems a shame to bring the home dock with me if I can just plug the home wall plug into the power input on the windshield dock.

It's not recommended.
I've done it before, doing this will make your unit turn on automatically
