TomTom Model(s)
go live 1000
I have a Go 1000 Live TomTom is it possible to use the home software to create a route on my computer
and then send it to the sat nav ? my computer can access and use home but cannot send to sat nav.
I've downloaded (my drive)but there are only ways to update and install apps not to create routes as in home.any help out there?

Sorry but you cannot create routes (Itineraries) on that model. The best you can do is, on the device, save 3 waypoints but even then the route can't be saved or retrieved.

And MyDrive is needed for that model. Not home.

The only devices for which you can make a route on the computer are those that use HOME, referred to as NAV2 devices. New ones have not been around for some time now.
Buying a NAV3 device does not make you a dummy.

Let's determine what you call a route.
TomTom calls a route going from current position, point A to B.
Your device will allow you to add up to 3 intermediary waypoints but that cannot be saved as an itinerary.
If you still have your Home connected device and you want to just go to one place, all is not lost as you can make a Custom POI category in Home and add all your addresses into that .ov2 folder.
That folder, saved on your computer can now be transferred to your device by clicking the TomTom tray icon which opens MyDrive Connect, where you see 'Community transfer'. Click that and bring in your POI ov2 folder.

with ref to if I still have device still connected to home ,no never had a nav 2 type. I only have 2 tt 1000 live units, one I bought & one that came with my car later on (blue&me)
If I still want to use home as the main route planer do I need to purchase a nav 2 type?

From your initial post I presumed that you had been using Home in the past.
Home is the software that allows to communicate between the PC and the device directly.
All newer models use MyDrive.

There is still a way to make POIs on the PC by using the free software "Tyre" and saving them in an .ov2 folder which then can be transferred to your NAV3 device.

Thanks for that! I will download tyre and give it ago.
Does that mean modern TTs using MyDrive have no facility to programe a route on a computer other than the above method

Yup. And even that only came about for the NAV3 devices about a year before they stopped development for that generation.

At this time that feature is still not available for NAV4 devices although it is expected for this year.

We've all been wondering about that, too. They seemed insistent on starting over with a clean sheet of paper when moving from Nav2 to Nav3, and AGAIN when moving from Nav3 to Nav4 units.

One of the big problems in each of those two transitions has been that it has taken so long to get the basic code stable that it then takes what seems forever to get the rest of the features stacked on top of the basic code and working.
