Still have a 740 sitting on my desk here. Are you saying you want to update that device, or update to a new device?
In fact, am about to update to the new 1105 map today!

Hi canderson, yes I want to update a recently purchased 740 so I can make use of it on my motorbike. I also have a TomTom smart 50 that I have fitted to my touring/weekend ride, but this is too big for fitting to my commute bike as it hides the dials so bought the smaller 740. When fired up it shows the TomTom iq routes and HD traffic symbols and appears to work fine, but does not recognise my workplace location or the location of speed cameras on the M1. I assume I can use a micro SD card and adaptor to load any updates on, but have been unable to find the updates for the device and discovered the live service is no longer supported

Ask away, although your 740 gets a little ling in the tooth.
I got my 930 one week before our trip to the UK and Ireland in 2008 and the first place we visited from our friends in Ampthill was the Northampton MES. Just checked and the TinyURL is still working TomTom. http://tinyurl.com/39r4kg

canderson will confirm if a micoSD card can be used. My 930 is a generation older but will only see straight SD cards.

Thanks Arno. My other device is updated regularly through mydrive, but my laptop is in for repairs to the charging port so everything is being done via a android phone and so far I have been unable to update the map to the 11.05 version mentioned by canderson

Yes, the 740 has a slot for a uSD card, and if the firmware is anywhere near up to date, a 4MB uSD card should suffice. If you are interested in only UK&ROI map, it may be possible to download just that rather than the full W. Europe map, and save the installation of the card. I'm trying to remember whether individual regions are still offered. I always update the whole N. America map to the uSD card.

No, Live is no longer supported as it used to be.

Would be curious to know what firmware and map are presently loaded. Home should tell you both of those things.

Firmware a little stale. 9.510 will be problematic as it predates the April 2019 WRNO GPS date issue. You'll definitely need to update to 9.541 or the device's internal computation of date/time is going to be whacked.
