TomTom Model(s)
Go Superior 6"
Hi, as per the title, I have a Go Superior 6" hardwired in my Skoda Scala 2023. The TomTom comes on and goes to sleep as expected when I start and stop the car. The TomTom shows the battery being charged, but it discharges faster than it charges, resulting in a dead battery after a while while driving. The TomTom charges OK from the mains. Does anyone have any suggestions to what the problem is? Thanks.

You mention hard wired ... is the positive feed taken from the fuse box as an ignition live? Might you have tapped into a live feed that goes to sleep eg interior light.

Thanks for your suggestion. The feed is from fuse box live ignition, and continues to show "charging" during any journey.

Hi
Is your GO powered by the included car charger, or is it plugged into a USB port in the car?

It's powered using a cable from the fusebox to a mount fitted to a Brodit holder which takes a micro usb connector, so not the usb3 cable which came with the Go.

Is your USB cable plugged into a charger like this?

Ideally,I would do that, but 12v socket in the Scala is permanently live, and I'm trying to connect the Go via ignition. I may, however, have to revert to that and try to remember to disconnect at the end of each journey.

If the 12V cigarette lighter socket is permanently live, you will have no choice but to unplug the GPS plug or turn off the GPS using the on/off button.

If the Go is turned off, will it still draw current, possibly flattening the car battery after an extended period? Thanks.

The 12-5V power converter probably isn't providing enough power. Check the power and compare it to the TomTom cigarette lighter-socket.
