TomTom One v3
For the past two weeks I have been trying to update my Tomtom One v3 with the latest GPS Quick Fix but I keep getting the error, Cannot create this file: G:\ephem\lto.dat I sometimes get the message pasted below.
I have tried going into Manage my device in Tomtom Home and removing the GPS items, which it then states that it has done. I have used the windows explororer to go into the Tomtom ephem directory and there is a file there called lto.dat but no matter what I try it will not delete, when I click on delete it states that it has been deleted but if I then click on the directory again it is still there, if I try to view it with Notepad it says the file or directory is corrupt or damaged.
Please can anyone help me with this or point me in the right direction.

Regards. Colin.

Here is the error message that I get.

ERROR: HomeBase/IO: Error writing file: G:\ephem\ee_meta.txt

Besides using Explorer to delete the ephem folder on the unit, go here:

c:\documents and settings\yourname\my documents\TomTom\Home\Downloads\Complete\ephemeris\ and delete any sub folders found there.

Then connect to Home, see if a new gpsquickfix is offered and, if so, install. See if it works ok now.

Just did as you said, when I first switch on the TomTom I get the error message below.

ERROR: HomeBase/IO: Error writing file: G:\tthome.bif

I then click on OK to get rid of this message, Home then scans the web for GPSFix and says there is one available, I click on install, it says downloading and then comes up with this error.

1. Connect to the computer. Make an Explorer, not Home backup of your unit's contents.
2. Start-->Run-->cmd and in the box that opens type chkdsk G: /f
3. Format the unit. Don't use quickformat.
4. Restore the backup.

Try the steps to get the new gps file now.

Re dhn's step #1....
You may find Windows won't copy the dodgy file either. If so, just make your backup by copying everything EXCLUDING the "ephem" folder. Then make a fresh empty folder with that name manually.

Thank you for the suggestions guys, I will copy and paste them should I get the problem again. I have been trying to update using my laptop running Win 7 64bit, whilst getting all these problems. Yesterday I tried to do the update using my desktop running Win XP and hey presto update completed. :) Maybe Win 7 had corrupted some files on my Tomtom One.

Regards.

Colin
