TomTom Model(s)
Go Premium
My TomTim Go Premium has got the habit to shut itself down every 1–2 mins, and then restart immediately. The problem occured some time ago and I just changed the battery to a new one (exactly the same kapacity, voltage etc). The new battery is fully loaded. Problem remains, black out in minute intervals. Everything sems to be working fine. Any solutions / suggestions?

Disable MyDrive synchronization on the device.
Go to Settings, then TomTom Services, and disable MyDrive synchronization on the device. Re-enable it to transfer a route.

Thanks for advice! Works halfways, when I disconnect my account and disable syncronization the device works fine (apart from can not send new addresses from my mobile, of course...) Emable my account, the oroblem reaccure (independent of where I am in using/controlling my TomTom. Any further advice for my problem?
With great thanks!

That's right, if you want to send new addresses, you need to reactivate MyDrive.
Once the address is in your account, you deactivate it again.

Why? Is there anything that has changed, software or firmware that makes the device turn itself off regularly? My guess; each time the device tries to update itself by connecting to the account it turns off and restarts?
Why sudddenly? Everything has been stable the 8–9 years I have used the device and been connected to my account all the time.
If I disable / erase everything and start over again, will the problem remain?
If so, can Ikeep my account; addresses, routes, POI etc. ready to import to my "new" account?
Thanks again for your effords, appreciate it very much

For your information, the MyDrive app on your phone was discontinued on January 22, 2025.

Question: If you send a new address from your phone to your GPS, is that address saved?

Have you tried sending the same address using TomTom Maps from your computer?

This is a longstanding problem for this particular series of devices. What's happening is that there's a bug in the device firmware that causes it to crash and reboot during some part of the connection/communication back to the TomTom server that handles personal location information (Routes, POIs and Favorites). Your premium needs to check in regularly to be sure there isn't any new content that it needs to know about, and some of those times, the failure occurs.

Anyone with a GO Premium, GO Premium X, GO 520 or GO 5200, GO 620 or GO 6200, GO Essential or GO Supreme may run into this behavior.

Thanks again!
I am fully satisfied with your very pedagogic explanation (of course not so pleased with the TomTom-bug).
Now I can use the device within its limits, knowing what applies.
And I am happy with my newly (self-) installed new battery.

Nicely done on the battery.

I still own a GO 620 that I really prefer for several reasons, and I've had to become accustomed to bringing up the sync feature only when I need to transfer something I've created offline. Then I shut off the sync right away to avoid the annoying crash/reboot stuff.

What you have there is one of the very last of the TomTom devices that actually supports custom POI. My use model requires it, so I stick with the older devices.
