I wish to plan and save a route for future use. I select point A from My Places, set Use as a start point, select point B from My Places, select Drive. My route is calculated and displayed. I should be able to save at this point but the only option is Drive. When Drive is tapped, a new unwanted route is calculated from my current position to point B via point A. How is this supposed to work ?

You can't plan a route on your GPS and save it for later.

If you want to save a route for later you have to plan route from Mydrive (Tomtom plan) and save it.

The previous part of my route that took me to the location of point A was from a ferry port. I have successfully saved that route !
