Hi
What is said about the weight per axle
Axle weight (maximum axle weight) is the load supported by a single axle when the vehicle is loaded. This weight should never exceed the maximum recommended for an axle (maximum axle weight).
A vehicle or trailer with more than one axle can carry a heavier load because the load is distributed between the different axles.
The weight per axle is calculated from the weight of the vehicle or trailer, the weight of the transported load and the number of axles. Make sure you do not exceed the maximum axle weight, to avoid causing damage to the vehicle, trailer or the road.
For axle weight limits and maximum axle load calculations, contact your vehicle or trailer manufacturer.
Thank you. Both your vehicle and caravan have a specified maximum weight allowed per axle. Use the *higher* of those numbers.
Thanks again Canderson! What the value represents is an approximation of the maximum load any axle could place on the road surface. Different jurisdictions have different maximums. For just a towed caravan, it's not a number you'll have to worry about, but it's an issue for large trucks.
No. What needs to be entered is the highest total weight of one single axle like the front wheels or the rear wheels or that of a single trailer axle.So does this mean the combined weight of both car axles plus the caravan axle?
Thanks ArnoNo. What needs to be entered is the highest total weight of one single axle like the front wheels or the rear wheels or that of a single trailer axle.
Those values should be available to to from the manufacturers specifications of the car or the caravan.
Thanks that explained it
