Go 5200 recovery help

hi all, I have a 5200 tomtom well I think it's a 5200 as the serial begins with zo.

issues with it are as follows:

power on and the tomtom logo appears and the progress bar gets to exactly half way then it restarts and attempts again but again it gets to half way and then displays the connect to pc picture with the small red cross ❌️ in between the image of the pc and tomtom device.

I power it off and power back on keeping power held and it does show the white text info screen, then

I press the power button 3 times within 1 second and the unit then shows a black screen briefly followed by the connect to pc picture with the small red cross ❌️ in between the image of the pc and tomtom device again, I then connect a usb cable direct to pc and to the back of the tomtom and mydrive connect automatically starts with the message restoring your device. It reaches 100% and the tomtom reboots with the progress bar going all the way across and then reboots but the progress bar gets to halfway again and the same thing happens over and over.

I've tried different cables.
I've tried the power button 3 press. 4 press as well but it's still the same outcome.

Can anyone help?
 
After pressing the power button three times in a row, you see the gear wheel spinning.
 
Do you have the possibility to try with another computer?
yes I'm going to try on my apple mac laptop and my hp Windows 10 laptop today and will report back. if it still fails to recover is there a way to force the device to restore by inserting an sd card with a firmware that's compatible with it? just running out of ideas that's all.
 
update: I have tried the same process on a Windows 10 laptop and the result is the same, mydrive connect says restoring your device which gets to 100% then the device reboots with the logo and drum sound, progress bar goes all the way to the far right and completes, then reboots again and the tomtom logo appears followed by the drums but the progress bar gets to exactly half way then reboots again and finally shows the image that I have attached. I also get the same result on a apple mac laptop as well.

What happens if you press the on/off button until you hear the drum sound and the device restarts?

the tomtom logo shows followed by the drums and then the white progress bar goes to half way then shows the image above with the red cross in the middle.

I'm beginning to think this is just going to be a paper weight but wanted to see if I could fix the boot problem.
 
Have you tried using a different USB cable?
hi yes I've tried 4 different cables all charge and data cables 2 of them are original tomtom cables for this model.

The odd thing is that mydrive connect will recognise it and restore it all the way to 100% completion but when it reboots afterwards it just goes to the red cross ❌️ and attempts to recover it again over and over.
