TomTom Model(s)
GO520 WI-FI
Hello everyone,

I am the proud owner of a TomTom GO 520 Wi-Fi and unfortunately it started to reset in loop until all the battery gets drained out. TomTom logo pops, stays in menu for like 10-15 seconds and reboots. I tried every possible method that I could find on this forum but nothing has worked.

This is what I tried so far:
1. Hold down the power key until I hear the drums
2. Access recovery menu(black screen one with all the device info) and 3x tap power button to trigger recovery
3. Connect it to a PC so I can factory reset it from there, no luck. It seem like whenever the device is rebooting, I lose connection on my PC.

Did someone encountered this problem, and if yes, have you solved it ?

Have an amazing day,
David

Be sure you are timing the connection of the USB cable correctly. You must wait for the spinning circle BEFORE connecting the USB cable.

Immediately below is a 'clickable' link to a step by step. How far into these steps are you able to go before things go badly? Are you seeing the screens show in steps 5 or 6 or even 7?

Here's a video, too:

I have already tried this approach, went through all the steps. Restoration got to 100% and again it resumed to loop restart.

Is this a problem that needs to be addressed by TomTom repair team ? You literally can't do anything(add/remove) from the device since you have a 10 seconds gap before it restarts again. MyDevice app is losing connection every time it restarts.

Yes, if it is still going into a loop after a 100% circle on restoration, we have no additional steps that we can help you with.

My 620 does that. You have to break the internet connection. Turn off your router or whatever. Then when the rebooting stops go to settings, mydrive, and log out, or stop syncing. That always worked for me. If I log in to MyDrive it goes nuts. Been this way for a long time. If I never try to sync with MyDrive it never happens.

My tomtom 520 pro , just stopped working
Would not turn despite have a full charge.
Although it did reset itself just before powering off.
Luckily sent back to Amazon for a replacement
Unit.
Seems these units are problematic, but do a great job when fully working.
TomTom really need to sort these problems out
As looking on the internet they seem quite common on this product.
Hopefully the new replacement will have less problems.

Where in the world did Amazon UK come up with a replacement for a unit that old? What kind of warranty did you get when you bought it?

Wish we still had a few 520 Pros here in the U.S.

Still a new thing over here in the UK
I think they released an updated version of it here, because they promote it as a newer model. Wi-Fi enabled unit to use phone hotspot and my old one did not do that , this can update on the move unlike the older model tomtom I used, this needed to be updated via computer, but no longer supports the update service.
I would not have bought the 520 pro WiFi
Unit if it did

Having looked online this is a newer version of the TomTom 520 professional became available in October 2023 and it sells very well over here in the UK
Maybe they just don’t offer this unit over in the US.
These units are made by Navman and use TomTom mapping from my understanding
But are branded TomTom here.

I don't think a Navman GPS is a Tomtom GPS after a Navman GPS can use a Tomtom map that's yes

Could take a photo of the GPS or the box.

Unfortunately it’s been returned to Amazon UK for a full refund,
But the sticker on the box clearly say manufacturer at Navman
Software and branding Tomtom
When I contacted tomtom customer services about problems, they passed me through to navman for support who arranged return of product to Amazon
I’m not sure how this works for you guys in the US, but here in the UK .
This is how it works.
I’m happy I’ve been able to return and get a refund for it.
I’m currently looking at a navmsn product here after having spoken with customer support, don’t know if it is any good but got great reviews here .

I see the non-truck 520 still being offered on the amazon.co.uk website, but no pro model, and definitely unrelated to the Navman product brand.

Can you point to the Amazon url for this 520 Pro?

I can assure you it was navman in the uk
Who sorted out service and returns, now this is either done by navman or they use them for service support I’m not sure what the situation is over here, I just know it works and I received my full refund , do either tomtom of navman that’s the way I got my problem sorted out
