"Error occured during audio playback"

One of the reasons I got my TomTom Go 720 was that it played audiobooks-- which it did do for a while. And then, after an update, it now just gives me the "error occured during audio playback" message. The books are there, but how do I get them to play again? Help!

In your bin folder on the unit, there should be 5 files. If there are not, go into a backup you've made prior to the update (you HAVE a backup, don't you!!??) and copy the missing files from the backed up bin folder to the bin folder on the unit.

I struggled with the same problem for a long time.

What finally fixed it for me was copying the Activation.sys file from the Tomtom's internal memory to the external memory. On my system it was this:

copy from:
M:\audiobooks\Activation.sys (M: is the Tomtom)

to:
I:\audiobooks\Activation.sys (I: is the Removable Disk)
