I have noticed this on my 720, not my 700.
If I select the fastest route to a destination. Then, I select to calculate alternative, select fastest again. It will give me a DIFFERENT fastest route. Second fastest? Not sure. To get the original route back, you calculate original.
I think this is pretty neat, but not sure if it is documented anywhere.
