TomTom Model(s)
GO56
Please help if you can , or know someone who can.....

I am able to plot a route , I see the map details but get a message stating - waiting for a valid gps signal ,which then goes on for ever......
Last used the tom tom 2 months ago and it worked okay....
When device is connected to my laptop it tells me device is not connected.....
It has to be something simple (like my brain is at the moment)

Ps I have reset the device and I have re-loaded the tomtom software on my laptop

Any suggestions please

Thank you

Welcome to the forum.

I don't think you have the right model number. See if you can find it here.

I get that all the time sitting at the desk at home or in the underground garage.
After planning a route, see if you can go outside where there is an unobstructed view to the satellites.
At my previous house I had to go in the middle of the street to check it most of the time.

Let us know the proper model number and one of us will be able to tell you how to check if your device has received proper satellite acquisition.

thank you for your reply model number in full is 4EN52

No Jeff, that is not a valid serial number. You are looking for something that starts with two alpha characters.

Now that we have that sorted ...

First, since it has not been used for a couple of months, and since it sounds like you weren't successful in getting it connected to your PC, understand that none of the information it had about where satellites could be expected in the sky is valid now, and you were unable to update that when connected to your PC. So you need to take it out into clear sky for as long as 12-1/2 minutes so that it can gather fresh information about the state of the constellation. As soon as it locks onto one satellite, it will (slowly) begin to obtain data about the location of all 24. Once done, it should be able to provide you with a decent position fix.

I do not know how different yours is from the GO Live 1535 but to check satellite status I tap
Current location arrow (blue, in centre)
Settings
right (for next page)
Connections
GPS Status

If you walk to an area with clear line of sight to the sky, that screen should populate.
